3. Our Post will have its third annual VFW Day of Service event at Mary S Young Park in West Linn on Saturday, May 4th from 9am-noon. We will be continuing the park restoration work we began three years ago. This may include trail work, ivy/blackberry removal, and/or invasive tree removal. We will also need members who are willing to staff our booth sharing the VFW story, recruiting, and Buddy Poppy distribution. We have made a positive impact in the park and our participation in the annual event has received notice from park patrons. Members and their family/friends may sign up for the event at the following link: https://volunteer. solveoregon.org/opportunity/ a0CVL00000NUOnl2AH/vfw-day-of- service-at-mary-s-young-park. Please contact VFW Post 1324 member David Kleinke, dakleinke@outlook.com for more information.
4. Our Post has been selected as one of 25 Posts to receive special treatment by the National Office for VFW National Day of Service. The National office has hired a marketing firm to help market our event. They are also providing us with 10 each "Day of Service" tee-shirts. The t-shirts will be given to the first 10 members who sign up and attend the event, so sign up at the link in the above paragraph!
5. Sign up sheets for the Buddy Poppy distribution (May 17 to 27) are available at the Post. Contact the Post Commander at (503)655-6969 for more details.
This is all for now. Have a great week.
With great respect,
Greg Arnold
